NEXT GEN Marine BATTERY via TEAMS - 22 October 2024

NEXT GEN Marine BATTERY Workshop is being held via TEAMS on 22 October 2024. The theme is How Can We Make Battery Electric Vessels Safer?

This unique energy and safety workshop is run over 4 hours from 13:00 to 17:00 UK. The focus is on sub 24 metre vessels. Topics are relevant to workboats, pilot boats, patrol, search & rescue, military, offshore and superyachts - plus the ports, harbours and marinas they operate from.

The workshop includes a superb group of presenters and industry experts along with time for dynamic Q&A. Session One considers safety standards and lessons from other sectors. Session Two brings in industry solution providers and viable technology. Session Three looks at preventing thermal runaway and managing fire risks.

Workshop Lead - John Haynes, 'From running Energy Transition training for significant maritime organisations it is clear there is an urgent need for a better understanding of safety for energy storage systems. The initial focus for Lithium-ion batteries has been on the various chemistries and energy density. It is now essential to establish a consistent approach to identify safe battery-electric systems.'

'Safety' for battery-electric vessels is not only about high performance batteries. A systems approach considers charging, awareness of the risk of running out of energy at sea - along with the ability to prevent and fight fire.

NEXT GEN Marine BATTERY Workshop enables attendees to learn how power and energy performance is increasing. Safety needs to be front and centre as innovative system designers are pushing the boundaries and creating a realm of new possibilities for onboard energy.

Battery-Electric and Hybrid Powertrains can improve efficiency, make fuel savings and reduce emissions. NEXT GEN focus is on here and now technology that shows how marine can select viable and safe solutions today - plus next generation innovations that are approaching commercial release in the near future.
