HYBRID POWER Feedback

Feedback from 'Hybrid Marine Power & Propulsion' - Conference & Workshop 2015

As a first conference on this subject I found all presentations informative and very interesting. I left feeling that hybrid is very much the way ahead. The conference was structured with perfect balance between presentations, breaks and networking. Anyone who has an interest in hybrid or future technology would get a lot from these conferences. Simon Churchill – Mainstay Marine

I thought the whole event was excellent. Coming from another industry (aviation) I was on a steep learning curve and found out a lot of new things and made a lot of new contacts. I think that transfer of technology between sectors is very important and informative. John Price – JMP

The chaired sessions were extremely useful for dissemination of information and to gather comments from the audience. Bernard Twomey – Lloyd’s Register

The value of these events is in the discussions which are generated between the technology suppliers and the application engineers. This conference demonstrated again that hybrid technology is no longer a research project, but is a practical option to be considered when specifying power systems for vehicles or plant. Thank you for coming to the RNLI and presenting a well organised conference. Rob Cantrill – RNLI

I enjoyed immensely the conference in October. The networking opportunities were very good and it was a pleasure to share experiences with other companies active in the marine hybrid industry. I look forward to the 2016 event. Graeme Hawksley – Hybrid Marine

It was a really good workshop. Dr Simon Gerrard Industrial Liaison, Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute

Having been both a delegate and presented at the Hybrid Marine Workshop, I learnt so much in 2 days about the opportunities and challenges that the commercial marine (In particular the offshore wind turbine support) industry faces - primarily driven by emissions legislation and fuel costs. The open forum event had lively debate and enabled questions to be aired and answered from all angles. Simon Mcloughlin Managing Director, C-Fury Limited

Enjoyed all of it! Mel Lewis Technical Director, Mainstay Marine Solutions (formerly Mustang Marine)

Just a quick line to say thank you for providing the opportunity for RNLI to attend the workshop this week and to thank your team for their efficient organisation. I found it very worthwhile from a professional point of view as well as an enjoyable two days spent with some top people. This has opened my eyes to the current state of the technolog(ies). Rob Cantrill Head of Engineering, RNLI

A good range of credible presentations. Technology learning content good as well as application and future development. David Briggs BAE Systems

All credit to John Haynes and his team for co-ordinating and making an event like this happen. How impressive on the first one to have such a heavy weight, high profile audience from industry OEM’s and manufacturers globally.  With the Hybrid Marine Conference coming up later in the year this is certainly one to not be missed to get involved in the new thinking of marine propulsion and future capabilities. James Sydenham General Manager, Golden Arrow Marine

Really high quality of speakers / visitors and a great effort at short notice to create the event! Overall very good and a real intro to the possibilities of these market sectors. Adam Younger Principal Naval Architect, Adam Younger Design

This was a well presented conference bringing together like minded people with an interest in marine hybrid propulsion from both manufacturers and operators. There were well delivered and relevant presentations. It was a great place for networking and discussing future projects. I look forward to the next one! John Arnold Manager, Torqeedo GB

Just wanted to thank you for organising the workshop – genuinely really enjoyed it. Good relevant content throughout. Andy Page Naval Architect & Project Manager, Alicat / South Boats IOW

Quite honestly the best event I have been to. The presentations were phenomenal from all presenters but more importantly the open discussions that followed were truly enlightening, lively and beneficial for all. The Hybrid Marine Workshop had measurable positive results not only from networking but from audience engagement including Naval Architects, Engineers, Owners, Operators and Integrators. You set out to “Answer the Hard Questions” and it certainly did!! I very much look forward to the next event. Robert Young Sales Manager, XALT Energy

Very informative. Useful to hear the perspective of all the different parties with lively discussions. Conrad Ciaramella REAP Systems

Useful introduction to hybrid technology and the concept behind what can be done. Andrew Mellard General Manager Engines & Components, MAN Engines

It was nice meeting you in Southampton last month and I appreciate your kind reception. The workshop was very helpful for me to improve my understanding of the hybrid propulsion market. Michelle Moon Manager Ship & Offshore TF Team, LG Chem

From my perspective as a small innovation led company to be able to present our technologies and ideas openly to the forum and in front of leading companies is an opportunity that we can not find anywhere else. To then network between proceedings and find new contacts was exceptional - I look forward to the next event. Andrew Mcloughlin C-Fury

Excellent experience and knowledge and really good variety over the two days. Alex Atkins Owner / Operator, Offshore Energy Solutions
